Tired of annoying Junk Email? Worried about Destructive Viruses?
Cannon Communications has teamed up with Postini, Inc. to provide junk email filtering and virus protection for our email subscribers. Here are the answers to your questions about this new service enhancement:

What is it?
The Postini Junk Email and Virus protection is a method of extracting annoying junk email and destructive viruses before they get to your computer. No more dealing with Junk Email or Viruses that come to you via Email. This service enhancement is completely customizable to your own preferences and requires no special software on your computer.

Postini Virus and Junk E-mail Protection Service is available free with our $19.95 dial-up plan, or any High-Speed Internet plan.
Service is $2.00 per month if purchased separately.

Call Cannon Communications at 715-792-2103 to order.

How Does it Work?
This new service prevents email viruses and junk email from reaching your inbox. Emails that are "suspcious" or fit the "junk email" perimeters you set are automatically sent to Postini's Message Center. You can log into the Message Center and then safely view all quarantined messages. You can delete messages or forward them on to your inbox. Notices of quarantined Email are sent every day. If a virus is found, you are sent an email notice immediately. Regardless of when notices are sent, you may check your Message Center contents at any time.

Please be aware that this service is no guarantee of 100% protection from Junk Email or Viruses.
We still suggest you use caution in giving out your email address, signing up for email services and downloading or opening attachments. This feature only "watches" for viruses coming in via Email. It does not protect you from viruses contained in files you download via FTP, Chat sessions, Instant Messengers, or the Web.

    LOGGING IN
  1. To log into Postini go to the link provided under "Quick Internet Links" or go to http://login.postini.com/exec/login

  4. Click on "Log in".
    MESSAGE CENTER
  1. After you are logged in you will be in the message center. This is the area where you can "safely" view all of the messages that possibly contain a virus or have been blocked because they are junk email.
  2. There are several links in the message center that you can access and customize to fit your needs:

Junk Mail - You have the option of either turning junk mail blocking on or off. If you choose to choose to activate junk mail blocking, you will choose from the following options:
    • Filter Categories - Predefined spam filters set up to block emails that are: Sexually Explicit material, Get Rich Quick, Racially Insensitive, Special offers and Bulk mail.
    • Filter Sensitivity - Select different levels ranging from: Lenient, Moderate to Aggressive.
    • Blocked Senders - You can "block" a "specific" email address that you do not wish to receive email from.
    • Approved Senders - If you have email that you would like to bypass the filters but is getting "blocked", you can type the email address in this area and it will pass through to your email.

    • Virus Protection - You have the option to turn the virus protection on or off. When you have the virus protection activated, any viruses that Postini detects will automatically be put into your Message Center where you can "safely" view them and then choose to delete them or forward them on to your Inbox.

Account Settings - Additional email addresses that you would like to protect can be added to your Postini account. To add additional addresses please call Cannon Communications.
